Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Enjoy some of Waco’s best restaurants. Moroso Wood-Fired Pizza offers thin-crust pizza with an assortment of toppings, from pepperoni to honey and mushrooms, and an array of fine wines to complement the meal. For more Italian dishes, Di Campli’s has scampi, piccata, and lasagna on the menu, perfectly prepared the way Nonna used to make it.

More casual meals can be found at George’s, where the menu features down-home Southern recipes such as barbecue brisket, shrimp and grits, or chicken fried steak. During football season, there’s no better place to go than the Salty Dog Tavern, where you can enjoy a cold brew and fried pickles, sliders, and Frito pie.

Things to Do

Get some time outdoors at Cameron Park, featuring playgrounds for the kids, miles of trails for active family members, and plenty of picnic spots for everyone to congregate. Also on site is the Cameron Park Zoo, with 52 acres dedicated to highlighting amazing animals from around the world, including elephants, komodo dragons, and the rare Sumatran tigers.

For live music from local talent, head to the Backyard, where you can enjoy an icy and refreshing cocktail in front of their stage, which features live artists Thursday through Saturday. Past artists have included country star Neal McCoy, Pat Green, and 90s band Everclear.

The ExtraCo Events Center is home to several of Waco’s seasonal festivals, including the bigger-than-life Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo.
